“I had no idea how much I needed the encouragement and guidance that I received from this program until I was already enrolled. 4S Mentors are unbelievably so kind, helpful, and always ready to help out whenever, and I really appreciate all that I have been able to achieve because of my mentor’s character. I hope that this foundation continues to provide support for students who don’t know they need the help but will come to love the people who are working to ensure their college dreams come true.”

Advice for future 4S Scholars!
“Make the most out of the resources and opportunities that you are being offered. You have access to a supportive community and the guidance of successful, kind mentors. Don’t be scared to ask for help and always use your time wisely, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.” — Griselda Chavez
“Get started on those essays as soon as you can and perfect them over time! This is especially crucial given that test scores are now optional. Don’t just write what colleges want to see. Plenty of other students are going to do that. Add your own flavor — a secret ingredient that is entirely your own — to give the colleges a taste of who you really are. “Make sure to plan ahead for all college related things including financial aid, scholarships, interviews, etc. The process doesn’t just stop at the application. Also, communicate with your mentor, as they will guide you well and don’t hesitate to ask them anything.” — Katherine Ojiri
